The increasing popularity of the Microman Zone figures prompted Takara to expand the line, and branch it off from it's original Henshin Cyborg family. The second series of figures were slighty altered and the new idea of super interchangeability was put into play.

The small cuffs on the wrists were lengthened to better fit the arms, and the bare feet were removed and ankle spats and "cyborg" shoes were now added. Another big change was the addition of a 5mm hole to the figures back and underside of the shoes, so the figures could be securely fastened to the new vehicles via a "L" shaped peg in the back, and 5mm posts for the feet.

Another new theme was also introduced: names and number designations. An incredible back story and history for these characters was also created, and thus the Microman story had begun...released packaged inside their own capsules, the Microman M-10X series are (l-r): M104 John, M101 George, M102 Jack and M103 Jesse.
